Inside the Farmer Service Centre Track
Four editions in, and the question that shapes our program design hasn’t changed: how do we support entrepreneurs to build sustainable, lasting impact across Rwanda’s food systems? The answer lies not only in the solutions entrepreneurs develop, but also in the ecosystems that enable those solutions to reach the people and communities they are designed to serve.
The Ignite Challenge 4.0 is built around two interconnected pillars: agrifood ventures driving innovation and Farmer Service Centres (FSCs) connecting farmers to the products, services, and opportunities they need. FSCs are one-stop centres closing the last mile for smallholder farmers, bringing essential agricultural inputs, services, and market access straight into their communities, every day.
The FSC track isn’t a standard support package for local agribusinesses. It’s designed to strengthen selected centres as active, trusted service points for farmers through funding, coaching, and business support.
The selection process was just as intentional. The program looked for FSCs with proven farmer trust, clear and viable business models, and leadership that was already delivering and ready to take the next step.
The 10 selected FSCs focus their work on four core areas of the agrifood value chain: inputs and sustainable production, animal feed and livestock, processing and mechanisation, and nutrition and value addition. They span different districts across Rwanda: Musanze, Gakenke, and Burera in the North; Ngoma and Kayonza in the East; Rubavu in the West; and three in Kigali’s Gasabo district.
Six of them are women-led, reflecting the program’s commitment to creating economic opportunities for women in Rwanda’s agrifood sector.
What will the FSCs Gain:
- Up to USD 5,000 in grant funding
- One-on-one business coaching covering market access, business growth, operations, and product/service development
- Masterclasses on business growth
- Pairing with Ignite Challenge Ventures to create value and practical exchanges
- Access to market linkages, events and peer learning opportunities
The uniqueness of this program is the pairing and connection itself. Farmer Service Centres are now in direct exchange with ventures, sharing knowledge, navigating collaboration opportunities, and finding ways to add value to each other’s work.

The track is gaining strong momentum. All 10 FSCs have now been successfully linked with 6 ventures, sparking active collaboration across the network.
Business coaching is progressing, equipping FSCs with the skills to sharpen their operations and grow sustainably. In addition, several FSCs took center stage at the Agrishow 2026 exhibition, showcasing their progress to a wider audience. With funding on the horizon, the FSCs are set to unlock new opportunities for growth and impact.
Meet the pairings, and the rationale behind them:
Pairings bring together FSCs and ventures working in the same sector or solving similar challenges. Here are a few examples of the connections the program is creating.
Priscilla and Pierre, who run FSCs producing animal feed, are paired with Indintambwe, a venture with expertise in feed formulation. Together, they bring complementary expertise in producing and improving animal feed for farmers.
Hinga Neza FSC, led by Angélique, is paired with Bountiful Farmers, both operating in the potato seed sector and strengthening access to quality seeds for farmers. Rusaj FSC, led by Samuel’, which produces vermicompost and organic fertilizer, is paired with Amazing Insects, both building circular, soil-first solutions for farmers.
The same logic applies to World Benefit and Nutrinet Food FSCs, which are paired with the venture Rainbow Health, with all working on nutritious and value-added food products. In these pairings, the exchange is about building on shared experience, tackling common problems, and exploring collaboration opportunities.
