Job Summary
As a Communications Lead at Impact Hub Kigali, you are responsible for leading the organization’s brand and visibility, ensuring clear and consistent messaging across all channels, and supporting outreach and engagement. You work closely with the IH Kigali team as well as collaborate and liaise with our program partners.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with the Brand & Communications Manager, this role demands a creative, proactive and detail-oriented communicator who can thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Overall communications strategy
- Develop and implement a clear, compelling communications strategy aligned with the hub’s mission and program goals
- Ensure consistent brand messaging across all channels and materials
- Regularly review and refine messaging based on audience feedback and engagement metrics
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Produce high-quality written content including blog posts, newsletters, press releases, and reports
- Lead the creation of engaging social media content tailored to different platforms and audiences
- Gather and publish compelling stories of impact from entrepreneurs, ventures, and programs to showcase success and learning
Digital & Social Media Management
- Manage and grow the hub’s presence on platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
- Plan and schedule content using relevant tools
- Keep the website updated with relevant program information, news, events, and blog content
- Monitor social media and website analytics to assess engagement and inform strategy
Visual Communication & Design
- Design branded visual assets for social media, events, website, presentations and marketing materials
- Ensure all visual materials are aligned with brand guidelines
- Create branded templates for reports, proposals, newsletters, and social media posts.
- Design infographics, impact reports, and pitch decks to communicate key messages visually.
- Oversee production of multimedia content (e.g., photos, videos, graphics)
Stakeholder Engagement & Outreach
- Support outreach efforts for programs, events, and initiatives through targeted communications
- Manage relationships with media partners, influencers, communications consultants, and freelancers as needed
- Assist in preparing communication materials for funders, partners, and community stakeholders
- Identify opportunities for collaborations with media, influencers, and partners.
Internal Communication & Support
- Maintain clear communication flow within the team regarding program updates and storytelling opportunities
- Work closely with program managers to amplify their initiatives through strategic content
- Develop templates and internal tools to support team members with consistent messaging
- Provide communication support for events, workshops, or public engagements
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Support
- Track and analyze communication metrics (reach, engagement, click-through rates, etc.)
- Prepare monthly or quarterly reports summarizing communications performance
- Use data to inform strategic decisions and improve content effectiveness

Who we are looking for
Experience
- University degree with at least 3 proven years of work experience in communications or marketing
- Proven ability to craft compelling narratives.
- Experience in graphic design and visual storytelling.
Competencies/Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in graphic design (Canva, Adobe Suite, Figma) and video editing tools.
- Knowledge in managing social media accounts and websites.
- Creative thinker with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
- Strong passion for impact-driven work, innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Eagerness to engage in continuous learning and professional development.
Languages & commitment
- Fluent in English. Knowledge of Kinyarwanda and French is preferred
- A minimum commitment of 2 years
