JOB DESCRIPTION – Impact Hub Kigali: Deep Dive Africa Startup Investor Relation Manager

 

(3 months- 0.3 FTE) Position Summary

Impact Hub Kigali is looking for a Startup Investor Relation Manager to support our Local Programs team of experts in the delivery of the second interaction of Deep Dive Africa, a program that seeks to bring investment capital to carefully handpicked startups in Accra, Lagos, Kigali and Nairobi. 

The Startup Investor Relation Manager will work as a local investor liaison, ensuring participation of local investors in the open engagement events as well as supporting the deal-flow process to ensure less friction and decreased risk for local and international investors when investing in startups.

The Startup Investor Relation Manager will report directly to the Regional Program Manager and Local Program Manager.

As part of this evolution, we are now looking for an exceptional individual to join us as the Startup Investor Relation Manager for Kigali, Rwanda.

The Startup Investor Relation Manager would be locally responsible for serving as the local liaison for Impact Hub Kigali, drawing the interest of local investors to investor events and supporting the Local Programs team in facilitating a smooth deal-flow process.

Task Description  

  • This is a local investor liaison, ensuring the participation of local investors in the open engagement events
  • Supporting the deal-flow process to ensure less friction and decreased risk for local and international investors when investing in startups.

Investor relationship management

  • Develop investor confidence and interest in the local key market of interest; Rwanda 
  • Adapt the investor relations strategy and framework to the Kigali context 
  • Create and manage a strong reputation for the project by demonstrating consistent and clear communication with interested investors
  • Manage investor relationships
  • Provide insights on market activity and present them to the pool of DDA investors.
  • Work with third-party service providers such as legal counsel and auditors to ensure compliance on regulatory matters during deal negotiations between DDA portfolio startups and investors 
  • Interface with investors to determine their investment criteria/thesis to better align with the recruitment and selection process for startups across the 4 markets.

 

Investment pipeline and deal facilitation

  • Support deal-sourcing for selected startups across all the Kigali Market for DDA.
  • Conduct high level due diligence on companies and prepare reports. 
  • Assist in structuring the data room for all startups during their pre-seed/seed rounds.
  • Participate in startup diagnostic sessions and support Program Manager in Identifying support needs to get startups investment ready.
  • Assist in the initial negotiation, structure, and review, of term sheets of startups during the fundraising process.

Competency  

 

Impact Hub is seeking to engage a consultant with the following skills:  

  • Experience in facilitating investment for early-stage ventures (preferably in East Africa) 
  • Experience in marketing or communication
  • Strong relationships with local and global pool of venture capital and impact investors  
  • A good communicator with excellent written and verbal skills (fluent in English).
  • Ability to deliver at pace to achieve the overall mission  

 

Timeline: mid November 2021 – mid February 2022

Location: Remote (preferably based in Kigali) 

Remuneration: EUR 3,000 for the full duration of the contract (inclusive of all taxes)

  • The contractor will be responsible for paying their VAT and other local taxes applicable.
