Communications & events manager 

As a communications and events manager, you support the team in the successful communication & promotion of our work as well as in the organization of events. You work closely with the IHK team as well as collaborate and liaise with our program partners. This is a full-time position and you report to the Managing Director.

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

As an ideal Communications and Events Manager, you exhibit the following qualities and provide proof of the following experience: 

  • University graduate with experience in communications, social media, and events management  
  • Experience producing digital content and managing social media accounts 
  • Knowledge in managing websites and using WordPress 
  • Experience and strong interest in organizing and promoting engaging events 
  • Creative and dedicated approach towards community building 
  • Interest in learning about our community and willingness to build it / make it grow   
  • Excellent marketing and communication skills 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills  
  • Ability to think creatively and to work independently / take initiative 
  • Fluency in English is required. Ability to speak French and/or local language is highly preferred.  
  • Commitment of at least 2 years
  • Passionate about innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability topics and eagerness to learn and grow 

 

YOUR TASKS 

As a communications and events manager, you support the team in the successful communication and promotion of our activities, management of our community, and organization of events. Your responsibilities include maintaining our website and social media, creating engaging content, ensuring our community’s well-being, and organizing events for our community. Specific tasks include: 

 

Communications 

  • Manage and update the IHK website 
  • Manage our social media channels and produce highly engaging content 
  • Write articles for the website 
  • Create and manage the branding of all IHK activities digitally and offline
  • Document programs and events by taking pictures, posting on social media, crafting stories, etc
  • Drafting press releases 

Events 

  • Organize events for the community and local startups, both online and in-person
  • Welcome guests to the events, being a friendly face of the Impact Hub
  • Deliver a 60-second pitch about Impact Hub Kigali at the start of the event  
  • Help setting up the venue and ensure smooth set-up/set-down of events
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings & events, including catering, materials, etc 

 

Community 

  • Greet everyone who comes into the space, and provide tours for new members 
  • Provide information about space rental and membership at all times
  • Identify and attract new members into our community 
  • Respond to inquiries from potential members and partners 
  • Get to know our community and take care of the wellness of the community 
  • Organize a community event once a month 
  • Keep meeting room schedule updated
  • Update membership and partners database 
  • Engage in word-of-mouth marketing to build the network
