JOB DESCRIPTION – Impact Hub Kigali: Deep Dive Africa Startup 1:1 Coaches

 

(3 months- 0.2 FTE) Position Summary

Impact Hub Kigali is looking for three Startup 1:1 Coaches to support our Local Programs team of experts in the delivery of the second interaction of Deep Dive Africa, a program that seeks to bring investment capital to carefully handpicked startups in Accra, Lagos, Kigali, and Nairobi. There will be one senior coach overseeing all the activities, and two additional coaches for the program.

The Startup Coaches will assist the recruitment process by handpicking high growth ventures in the market to participate in the program. The coaches will begin 1:1 training with startups and continue into the period of matchmaking with investors.     

The Startup Coaches will report directly to the Regional Program Manager and Local Program Manager.

As part of this evolution, we are now looking for exceptional individuals to join us as the Deep Dive Africa Startup Coaches for Kigali.

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the context of post-COVID economic recovery. 

The Startup Coaches would be responsible for recruiting high growth ventures in the market to be a part of DDA 2021 and providing training support to get them investor ready.

Key Responsibilities     

  • Lead startups in applying Lean Startup methodologies and principles in developing and iterating their business models to be investor-ready
  • Hosting 1:1 coaching sessions with startups to assess progress, and hold them accountable in meeting program objectives
  • Supporting partners innovate towards growth and scaling strategies
  • Assist startups in sourcing relevant mentors or industry experts as needed, who can help them with particular challenges
  • Work collaboratively with the Impact Hub Kigali program team and the startups to create a well-integrated program across departments
  • Support startups in preparing their data rooms to be ready for the investor meetings and events
  • Help founders apply “Lean Startup” principles and methodologies and customer-centric activities to bridge the technology they’re building with the needs of potential buyers
  • Progress tracking and reporting on startups according to the program metric requirements

Candidate Profile

Are we a match?

  • You have relevant professional experience in the impact/tech ecosystem and working with startups
  • You have experience with management for multi-stakeholder programs, particularly in a regional or international context.
  • You are a team worker and able to build relationships across a wide range of organizations and partners.
  • You are a good communicator with excellent written and verbal skills (fluent in English).
  • You have excellent user skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and have
    delivered projects with one of the widely used project management tools.
  • You are comfortable interacting with several stakeholders and able to work collaboratively
    within multidisciplinary and distributed teams.
  • You have previous experience in understanding diverse market dynamics and can work
    across different cultures in a respectful way to the local reality
  • You are passionate about and immersed into relevant topics, developments and
    conversations in the field of innovation.
  • You are open-minded, self-reliant, and excited about being part of a diverse, fast-paced, international environment.

Job Specification

  • Role: Deep Dive Africa Startup 1:1 Coach
  • Position: Part-time (0.3 FTE) for a period of 3 months (December 2021 – February 2022)
  • Team Engagement: Independent contractor
  • Reporting: Regional Programs Manager and Local Program Manager (Impact Hub Kigali)
  • Location: East Africa (preferably Kigali)
  • Remuneration (independent contractor): Range of EUR 2,000 to 4,000 depending on the amount of hours/days and expertise 
  • The contractor will be responsible for paying their VAT and other local taxes applicable
